Relationship Based Play

For learners of all ages

  June 22nd

Helen Worrall, Independent Education Consultant

Keep Education Safe guidance from Welsh Government states that ‘play is important for learners of all ages and should be both structured and unstructured.’

Relationship Based Play provides practitioners with a clear relationship based approach to structured play. It can be embedded in daily practice in order to support learners at this time to build connections, develop a sense of self-efficacy and foster feelings of safety, calm and hope.

Helen Worrall is an Independent Education Consultant who has specialised in supporting children since 2004 who have experienced change, trauma and loss. Helen has adapted the Relationship Based Play activities so that they can be used within the current guidelines on social distancing. During the training participants will develop the knowledge and understanding to apply the principles of Relationship Based Play in their settings either as discrete sessions or embedded within their daily practice. Helen will also seek to develop the confidence of participants by sharing short films which model how to use the approach.

ERW are delighted to be welcoming Helen back to share her wealth of expertise with practitioners across the region at this unprecedented time of change. Please note that the training will be delivered in English. Accompanying materials will be made available in Welsh and English following the training.
