We appreciate the focus on Teacher Workload as part of Core Visits 2

ERW drove a national initiative in conjunction with Estyn and Welsh Government to develop national guidelines for teachers and headteachers.

ERW should consider moving at pace to deliver something tangible that addresses 'workload'. Workload (and the wellbeing of practitioners) is a major concern that is widely shared.

Schools wanted more support on quality assuring teaching

Changed the focus of Support Visits 2 and 3 to focus on learning and teaching and supporting schools to improve these aspects.

Wanted a bespoke approach to visits

2nd and 3rd School Support Visits in 2017-18 will be planned according to the school’s current self-evaluation.

Not sure if a differentiated approach to schools worked effectively

All schools will receive a minimum of three Core Support Visits in 2017-18

Wanted change in CV1

More emphasis will be placed on knowing and understanding schools well throughout the year rather than focusing solely on data.

We support the Leader of Learning model

This model is currently being rolled out across the region.

You wanted more stability as far as Challenge Advisers and their designated schools.

Stability is a core principle in our School Support Visits guidance for 2017-18
